Rufus Wainwright was great. (as was Martha his beautiful sister!!)
[livejournal.com profile] evil_trisha missed the whole show, cos her plane was late :(
She arrived just before we made our way out, and I told her that the concert was wonderful..
I have to revise my statement on that.
It was "good".. Rufus was brilliant, totally gorgeous ( just a jacket and leather pant.. nothing under the jacket.. happy trail!!) and funny.
I love most of his songs and he did a brilliant job.. But I was slightly bored from time to time.
*hides*

I don't know if it was a mood thing or something.. On top of that, there was this huge guy standing in front of me, making out with his girlfriend all the time

Better luck with Jamie tomorrow?!
His concert will be in a church!!!Can you imagine the atmsphere and acoustic?!
Instead of my beloved boyfriend, my beloved [livejournal.com profile] blavandgirl is coming with me.

I finally made it to the gym today *proud*
After the summer ( lazy summer...) and my time in hospital I needed someone to kick my ass, so that I'd go again.. ( and on a regular basis )

I can honestly say.. I hate sport!
I'm not a runner, a swimmer, a (hockey/soccer/basketball/football)-player .Nothing.
And I'm pretty lazy in any way..

So, yeah.. I'm trying my best..
GEtting a new work-out plan on thursday!

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] wide_ocean has a better and nicer and more funny report on the concert HERE..
ETA 2: ... uhm... which is f-locked.. so I'll just shamelessly copy and paste it behind
Anyway. Martha Wainwright opened the show, which was a nice surprise - I hadn't known about that beforehand. Ok, admittedly I hadn't even heard any song of hers until last night. :"> I must put her on my wishlist now, though, because she was very awesome - not only her music, but her comments and attitude as well. "I'm only here to hang out with my brother... And to take advantage of the popularity he has in Europe." ;))

Then after a couple of songs and some time to rearrange the stage, Rufus came on. And may I be very superficial for a moment here and say: OMG. Could he be any hotter?? I had always found him pretty on pictures, but not faint-worthy; live, however, he was absolutely stunning. And wearing leather pants, a half-open jacket with nothing beneath it, and a lot of bling. :)) Very, very nice.

I don't remember the song he started with, but the second was "The One You Love" (which is one of my favourites, so I remembered). Then came... I don't know the order anymore, but he definitely did Little Sister, one with Martha, Natasha, Peach Tree, Memphis Skyline, that not-yet-released one, "Between My Legs" I think it's called (very awesome song!) ... Ok, I don't really remember a lot of the songs he sang. But he did "Chelsea Hotel" while smoking, which totally catered to my sekrit smoking fetish. Is it weird that I don't smoke and I don't even like making out with people who smoke, but find smoking people to be majorly hot?
His commentary was almost even better than the songs, though. In interviews he always came across as sort of arrogant to me, but now I'm not so sure anymore - I think it's less arrogance, but more like he's really rather flaming, or at least plays up on his image as a gay icon a whole lot. It's quite adorable. :D He seemed a bit preoccupied with "his new house" Sanssouci (a Versailles-inspired palace in Potsdam near Berlin), recounted playing the same venue years ago with his mother at some lesbian event ("I was an honorary lesbian - at 15."), ... It was pretty cool.

For the "big finale" he started singing "Old Whore's Diet" and in the middle of the song he and his band went offstage, to come back a minute later wearing some sort of monks' robes, doing a whacky dance routine that totally cracked me up. Then two roadies (I assume), dressed as Romans, brought in a cross and put Rufus (who had shed the robe and wore some sort of blue-green tunic) on it, with a gold-glitter thorn crown, a mask with glittery/make-up-ed eyes on it, glittery wrist cuffs, put some lipstick on him... I think the 'word' "sacrilicious" was pretty much invented for that scene. My inner artist, cultural geek and fan of performance art rejoiced simultaneously. :D He finished "Old Whore's Diet" that way and then sang - of course - "Gay Messiah". Very, very awesome. ♥ I think nora1980 filmed it, maybe she'll share. :D

He came back for two encores, first doing Pretty Things, Hallelujah and... Beautiful Child, I think, and then The Art Teacher, and he ended with Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk. Have I already used the phrase "very very awesome"? Because it was.
