have been looking through my travel books and bought a good map on amazon.
so yesterday I started to mark my points of interest with different coloured dots..
so much fun! the map looks so cool..

i pointed out a pizza place someone recommended, the oscar wilde bookstore, and a drugstore that seems more like a night club and has glittery toothpaste *lol*
among other things :)

give me more rec's please?
what was you favourite place?
where did you buy the best things ever???

You should check the Village Voice while you're there and see if any good off Broadway shows are going on, or if there are any good bands playing at one of the nine squillion clubs around the city. My favorites are the Bowery Ballroom and The Knitting Factory.

der Oscar Wilde-Laden ist zu schön. :-) gegenüber ist eine Zoohandlung die oft kleine Hunde im Fenster haben.

Ein (oder mehrere) Cosmopolitan in der Bar Métrazur zur Feierabendzeit in der Grand Centralstation. Mehr New York geht nicht.

Mhhh, also favourite places in NYC? Öööööh, jede Ecke von Manhattan? Zählt das? *gg*. Bin am überlegen, was wir im letzten Jahr im Dezember noch alles gemacht haben... :

- Fahrt aufs Rockefeller Center: Von dort oben hat man einen fast noch beeindruckenderen Blick auf Manhattan und insbesondere aufs Empire State Building. Ist gerade im Dunkeln umwerfend...


- nach Harlem fahren und einen Gospelgottesdienst der Farbigen sich mal anhören. War wirklich mal was anderes und total beeindruckend.

- ins Musical am Broadway gehen. Da läuft ja wirklich alles was Rang und Namen hat. Wir waren vor zwei Jahren in Phantom of the Opera und Mamma Mia, letztes Jahr in Tarzan. Alle drei Shows waren einfach super. Vielleicht hast du ja auch noch Glück und erwischst ein Musical/ein Theaterstück wo jemand bekanntes mitspielt. Als wir da waren, lief eine Show mit Bill Nighy. Und um wenige Tage hatten wir Christian Slater und Julia Roberts in nem Theaterstück verpasst.. .

- Besichtigung der Uno. Fand ich wirklich spannend. Besonders aufregend war es, als auf einmal Kofi Annan vor mir stand und mich angriste :-)

- zum Deli Katz fahren. Da haben sie Harry und Sally vor Jahren mal drinnen gedreht. Überall an den Wänden hängen Fotos von Prominenten wie Johnny Depp, Paul Rudd, Clinton etc., die dort ebenfalls mal gespeist haben. Bloß den Original Katz Salami Sandwich, der als world famous sandwich angepriesen wird, kann ich nicht so wirklich empfehlen, denn da kommt dann sowas:


- nen Cosmopolitan in der Ground Central Station schlürfen :-). Sehr lecker! :-)

- in die Moma gehen. Bin ja sonst eher ein Kunstbanause, aber die Bilder waren wirklich toll.

- ins Time Warner Center am Columbus Circle gehen. Da hat u.a. auch CNN seinen Sitz. Haben im letzten Jahr dort eine Führung durch die Studios gemacht, die sehr spannend war. Allein der Shop von CNN war aber schon toll, insbesondere wäre das was für dich, weil du doch Sex and the City magst, oder?

einfach nen leckeren Starbuckskäffchen kaufen und das Treiben am Time Square genießen. Hab ich am letzten Tag für zwei Stunden gemacht bei strahlendem blauen Himmel und habs einfach nur genossen.

Wünsche Dir auf jeden Fall viiiiiiiiiiiiiiel Spaß in NYC. Ich liebe diese Stadt. Vielleicht hast du ja auch Glück und erlebst auch die ersten Weihnachtsschmückereien. Die sind wirklich unschlagbar und sooo schööön.

It's been ages since in went to NY (1999), but I think Ellis Island is a must-see. (same ferry ride as the one that goes to the Statue of Liberty) The story of immigration is such a big part of what made NYC the place it is.

The closest I've ever been to NYC was the Newark, NJ airport on route to Berlin. *lol*

I'm glad you're having fun!
